The podcast details the development of Helio AI, a platform designed to assist healthcare professionals in accessing timely and credible medical information efficiently. It aims to solve the problem of information overload by offering a centralized solution where physicians can ask questions and receive accurate, evidence-based responses. The design was informed by user research involving over 300 healthcare professionals, emphasizing trust in medical sources and the need for reliable, immediate information during patient care.
Helio AI uses a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system to draw information from internal clinical content, CME materials, and reputable PubMed sources, ensuring transparency and quality in its responses. Key features include a chatbox interface, AI responses tailored to be empathetic and contextually appropriate, and integration with contextual advertising. The platform is continuously refined based on user feedback, with a strong focus on usability, accuracy, and trust-building features like source visibility and reference formatting. Currently, the product is used primarily for pre-visit preparation, with future development aiming to enhance support for patient communication while maintaining user-centered design principles.
